Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and the control you have — for the MyHomieo website and apps.
Last updated: 13 October 2026
The short version
- We collect what we need to connect you with people from your hometown: your account details, profile, messages and activity.
- You decide who sees your profile — public or private — and your soulmate profile can be hidden at any time.
- We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run MyHomieo, or when the law requires.
- We never see or store your card or UPI details — payments are handled by Razorpay.
- You can access, correct or delete your data, and withdraw your consent, by writing to us.
This summary is just a guide. The full Privacy Policy below is what applies.
01About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how MyHomieo (“MyHomieo”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information. It applies to our website (myhomieo.com), our Android and iOS apps, and every service we offer through them (together, the “Service”). One policy covers all of them.
We handle your information in line with Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 as it comes into force.
By creating an account or using the Service you agree to this policy together with our Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use MyHomieo.
02Information we collect
Information you give us:
- Account details — your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender and password. Your password is stored only as a secure one-way hash.
- Profile details — your profile and cover photos, hometown and current city, username, tagline, bio, occupation, company, education, schools and colleges, languages, interests and Instagram handle.
- Soulmate profile (optional) — details you choose to add for matchmaking, such as height, marital status, diet, mother tongue, education, company, annual income, skills, your parents’ occupations, siblings and family type.
- Content and activity — messages in one-to-one and group chats, groups you create or join, companion plans and join requests (including the notes you write), who you follow, and connection and soulmate requests.
- Events — details you give when you register for or host an event, such as attendee name, email, phone number, date of birth and gender.
- Identity documents (optional) — in the app you may choose to upload a document such as an ID or a passport-size photo for verification or event hosting. This is never required, and we store it securely and use it only for that purpose.
- Messages to us — anything you send us through the Contact page or by email.
Information collected automatically:
- Device and log data — IP address, browser or device type, operating system and the time and date you are signed in, so we can keep your account secure and run it across your devices.
- Usage data — the pages or screens you view and how you use features, collected through analytics tools, so we can improve the Service.
- Location — the hometown and current city you select. In the app, if you allow it, your device’s current location is used only to show your dashboard. We do not save your device location on our servers. You can turn this off in your device settings.
- Cookies and similar technologies on the website — see “Cookies and similar technologies” below.
Information from others and from partners:
- Other members — for example when someone follows you, sends you a request, invites you to a group or reports content.
- Our payment partner — Razorpay tells us whether a payment or subscription succeeded, along with the plan, amount and reference IDs.
03Sensitive information
Some of what you may choose to share — such as marital status, annual income, diet, family details, date of birth and identity documents — is treated as sensitive. We ask for it only for a specific feature, only with your consent, and use it only for that feature. Sensitive details you add to your soulmate profile are shown only to members who can see that profile, and are hidden from everyone when you hide your soulmate profile.
You are never required to give us sensitive information to use friends, groups, events or companion plans. You can remove it from your profile at any time.
04How we use your information
- To create and run your account, sign you in, and send one-time codes to confirm your email or reset your password.
- To connect you with people, groups, events, companion plans and soulmate matches from your hometown and city — including ranking and suggestions based on your cities, interests and profile.
- To deliver your messages, requests and notifications.
- To process payments for paid plans and manage your subscription.
- To keep the community safe — verifying profiles, preventing fraud and fake accounts, enforcing our Terms, handling reports and complying with the law.
- To understand how the Service is used and to fix problems and build better features.
- To contact you about your account, important changes and support requests.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content of your private messages to build advertising profiles.
05Your consent
We process your information based on your consent, which you give when you sign up and when you choose to add optional details, and where it is needed to provide the Service you asked for or to meet our legal duties. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting the information from your profile or by writing to us. Withdrawing consent may mean some features stop working, and does not affect processing that already took place.
06Who can see your information
- Public profile — your name, photo, cities, bio and interests can be seen by other members. A private profile is visible only to members you have accepted as followers.
- Contact details — your phone number and similar contact details are not shown to other members by default. They are shown only where your privacy settings and the other member’s plan allow, and never for private accounts.
- Chats — messages are visible to the people in that conversation or group.
- Groups, events and plans — group members can see each other’s names and photos; hosts see the details attendees give when registering; plan creators see the notes and profiles of people who request to join.
- Soulmate — matches and requests are visible only to the members involved, and only while your soulmate profile is visible.
Anything you post in a group or share with another member can be copied or screenshotted by them. Please share thoughtfully, and meet people in person with care.
09How long we keep your information
- Account and profile information — for as long as your account is open.
- One-time codes — stored only as a secure hash and expire within minutes.
- Sign-in sessions — kept until they expire or you sign out.
- After you delete your account — your personal information is permanently deleted and you are signed out of every device. The only exception is payment and invoice records that Indian tax and accounting laws require us to keep.
10How we protect your information
We use reasonable security practices, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords and one-time codes, secure httpOnly cookies, access controls, and rate limits against misuse. Payment details never touch our servers. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password, never share your one-time codes, and tell us straight away if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.
11Your rights and choices
- Access and correct — view and edit your details in Profile settings, or ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Control who sees you — switch your profile between public and private, and hide your soulmate profile whenever you like.
- Delete — delete your account from your Profile, or ask us to erase your personal information (see “Deleting your account”).
- Withdraw consent — remove optional information, or write to us to withdraw consent for processing.
- Notifications — manage push notifications in your device settings.
- Nominate — nominate another person to exercise your rights on your behalf if you die or become unable to, as the law allows.
- Complain — contact our Grievance Officer below. If we do not resolve your concern, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India once it is operational.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at arvind@myhomieo.com from your registered email address. We may need to confirm it is you before we act.
12Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself at any time: open your Profile and choose “Delete account”. When you delete your account, your personal information is permanently deleted. This cannot be undone.
If you can no longer sign in or no longer have the app installed, email arvind@myhomieo.com from your registered email address with the subject “Delete my account”. We will confirm by email and complete the deletion within 30 days.
- What is deleted — your profile, photos, soulmate profile, interests, contact details, identity documents, and your membership of groups, plans and events.
- What we must keep — payment and invoice records that Indian tax and accounting laws require us to keep.
- Messages — messages you sent to other members may remain in their own conversations, without your profile details.
If you have a paid plan, cancel it from Profile → Subscription before deleting your account so that it does not renew. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for how refunds work.
13Children
MyHomieo is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, please tell us and we will delete it.
14Where your information is stored
Your information is stored mainly on servers in India. Some of our service providers, such as email and analytics providers, may process information in other countries. Where that happens, we require them to protect it appropriately.
15Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as MyHomieo grows or the law changes. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app or by email. Continuing to use MyHomieo after a change means you accept the updated policy.

- Grievance Officer, MyHomieo
